Maribyrnong Edible Garden
A grass path winding between rows of lush green garden foliage

Our story

A small patch of common ground.

The garden grew out of a few neighbours, a borrowed shovel, and the idea that a place to grow food together is a place worth tending.

What we do

We grow vegetables, herbs, and a handful of stubborn fruit trees on a shared patch of land in Maribyrnong. Beds are tended collectively. Harvests are shared. We meet most weekends, and anyone is welcome, no green thumb required.

How the garden runs

There's no boss. Decisions get made over tea on the back step. We work in seasons rather than sprints, and we try to leave each bed a little better than we found it. If you'd like to be part of it, the easiest first step is to show up to a working bee, see the events page.

Where to find us

98 Hortense St, Maribyrnong VIC 3032. Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. The gate's the green one with the painted tomato.

"Tend what you've got, share what you can, and let the rest go to seed."

Who tends the patch

The committee

A small group of neighbours who help keep things ticking, minutes taken, bills paid, gates unlocked.
